Walk a Marathon (or half) and Raise Money for ROL
Road of Life: Cancer Prevention for Kids is proud to announce its partnership with the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon & 10K. Beginning in 2005, Road of Life will be the charity for the new walking divisions of both the full and half marathon. Road of Life is an official charity of the Cleveland Marathon and a portion of the registration fees for all walkers will go to benefit its cancer prevention programs.

To help aid Road of Life and its mission, all registrants for the Cleveland Marathon can create their own personal fundraising pages simply by visiting www.active.com/donate/roadoflife2005. These pages are easy to use and allow individuals to generate personalized letters and donor e-lists, set fundraising goals, and track donations. These pages are a wonderful way to alert friends and family about your involvement in the Cleveland Marathon and share your support for Road of Life with the community.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Road of Life,” said Road of Life founder, Rob Emrich. “To become attached to an event with the history and reputation of the Cleveland Marathon is a wonderful chance to promote our message and programming.”

According to Emrich, becoming attached to the walking divisions was also important for Road of Life.

“One of the main themes behind Road of Life’s programming is getting people active, no matter what their circumstances. Most people are intimidated by the idea of running a marathon, but working towards walking 26 – or just 13 – miles seems a lot more reasonable. It’s something that almost anyone can accomplish, and we see these walking divisions as a celebration of that spirit.”

In order to accommodate walkers, the marathon course will be open a full eight hours, along with food and water stations. Walkers will have the same 7 AM start time as the runners. Medals will be awarded to all participants. The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon & 10K will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2005.
