U.S. Senate Candidate Eric Fingerhut Cites Road of Life as Inspiration for his Walk Across Ohio
Road of Life was honored to be cited by State Senator Eric Fingerhut as a major inspiration for his recently completed U.S. Senate campaign walk across Ohio. Fingerhut was present at the conclusion of Road of Life’s Bicentennial Walk in September, 2003 and was impressed by the organization’s spirit and determination and the powerful imagery of a state-wide walk. According to the official press release “The idea to walk across Ohio was inspired, in part, by Road of Life, a non-profit organization, which supports cancer prevention for children.” Fingerhut used Road of Life: Ohio 2004 as a blueprint for his own trek and mentioned the influence of Road of Life in speeches throughout his walk.

Road of Life Hiring for Five Employee Positions
Road of Life’s summer newsletter featured a story about a $300,000 federal grant Road of Life has received through the AmeriCorps*VISTA program. At that time it was unclear when those funds would be ready to be disbursed. Road of Life is happy to announce that it recently received confirmation from the AmeriCorps program that the organization can begin to recruit and hire members for the VISTA program. These VISTAs can be hired as soon as November, though Road of Life is focusing more heavily on filling the positions by July of 2005. Those interested in giving a year of service through this remarkable program should contact Road of Life at office@roadoflife.org or (614) 221-1235 to learn more about specific job opportunities and the benefits available to them as VISTAs.
