Governor Taft recently issued an official statement about Road of Life
and the new program “Cancer Prevention for Kids”. “I want to commend
Road of Life in its contribution to raise awareness about cancer among
our youngest Ohioans… Road of Life make(s) an important contribution to
the health of all Ohio’s children and their families,” said the
Governor in a statement on Nov. 12th. “We are happy to have the support
of the Governor and encourage all of the readers of this newletter to
participate in the healthy Ohioan’s program, which is sponsored by the
Governor’s office.” Said Matt Youngner, C.E.O. of Road of Life. Rob
Emrich, Chairman of Road of Life, offered these comments: “This is a
major step forward for our organization. We are now highlighting the
prevention cause amongst those who have the power to make change in
government.”

Road of Life will debut its new program and focus - “cancer prevention
for kids” - this January. “The program will focus on what we have
identified as the two most at risk and easily influenced age groups:
college students and fourth graders,” Josh Weiner, Director of
Education and Prevention, explained. “The idea is simple: influence the
behaviors of college students by bringing them into fourth grade
classes to act as mentors. The fourth graders learn about health and
geography from their college mentors in reference to their leg of Road
of Life: Ohio 2004, a 312 mile relay walk across the state of Ohio from
Cincinnati to Cleveland. The fourth graders are excited to participate
as part of a large and historic event and the concepts we are
presenting really sink in.”
More information about the program will be available in January when the program is released.
Those interested in more information should contact Josh Weiner at joshw@roadoflife.org or call (800) 850-9082.
Road of Life is looking for educators to evaluate our new geography and
health curriculum for fourth graders. The innovative curriculum covers
all the new fourth grade proficiency standards in geography and many
civics standards as well. Additionally, a comprehensive health
curriculum is integrated into the curriculum.

Through a partnership with Donation Line you can now donate your old
vehicle to Road of Life. Donation Line can pick up your car, truck or
boat from anywhere in the country. We can accept vehicles in any
condition, even non-running or inoperable states. The car will be
picked up from you, free of charge, within a few days of filling out

deduction for your generous donation.
2)Register your Credit Card with eScrip and Road of Life will receive a percentage of your charges.
Road of Life has partnered with eScrip to help you donate to Road of
Life every time you use your credit card. eScrip is a hassle-free way
for schools and groups that support children’s programs to raise funds
through everyday purchases made at eScrip merchants. eScrip and
merchant partners have created a system that rewards customer loyalty
by contributing a percentage of purchases to Road of Life. Parents,
teachers, friends, and families are encouraged to register their
credit, debit and grocery club cards as supporters with the eScrip
program. Upon receipt of registration, a percentage of all purchases
made at eScrip merchants will be given back to Road of Life.
