Road of Life Family Program Curriculum - Grades 3-5

		Title: Road of Life Family Program Grades: 3-5 Setting: At Home Version: 1.0 Topics: 14 Health Content: general health, tobacco use prevention, physical activity and nutrition Other Notes: Integrated into core academic subjects (Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science & Social Studies) Flexible: Modular design allows educators to teach single lessons, or the entire curriculum Aligned to State Academic Content Standards and National Health Education Standards Scientifically proven to be effective.


Description: The Family Program is designed for use in the home by parents and caregivers to encourage the development of good nutritional habits at an early age. The Family Program targets children in third through fifth grades and reinforces the Classroom Curriculum, but can also be used independently. The Family Program is modular so parents and caregivers can choose to implement the whole program or only certain lessons. Road of Life developed this program to bring health education into the home, enabling discussions and explorations of health and nutrition between children and their families. Parents learn proper nutrition for themselves and their children as well as fun and informative ways to incorporate nutrition and health into family discussions. The program was written by Master of Public Health students from The Ohio State University College of Public Health and has been carefully reviewed by both the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Curriculum Advisory Committee.
