Information: Shane Hankins is the Executive Director of Road of Life: Cancer Prevention for Kids. He provides executive leadership for a public health nonprofit corporation that focuses on preventative health education for children. He currently manages 6 full time staff, 6 part time staff, and multiple consultants. He is responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization and for expanding its scale and impact. He possesses an extensive background in nonprofit management and fundraising.

Prior to joining Road of Life, Shane served as Director of Programs for the Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI), a state-wide nonprofit based in Columbus, Ohio. While at ECDI, he managed 10 full time staff dedicated to financial asset building and special programs at the agency. These programs included microenterprise development, individual development accounts, down payment assistance to first time homebuyers, homebuyer education and counseling, financial literacy education, capacity building for nonprofit faith and community-based organizations, and ex-offender reentry. Before he was named Director of Programs for ECDI, Shane served as Director of Development for the organization. As Director of Development, he raised $15,437,404 in grant and contract funding and was a key member of the management team that founded ECDI in 2004.

Shane has worked in the Community Development Division of the Ohio Department of Development, where he assisted in the distribution and administration of over $15 million in state and federal grants for homelessness and housing issues. He then joined Concorde Capital Corporation, where he helped to implement over $225 million in real estate development projects. Shane went on to serve as Program Manager for Northside Community Development Corporation, where he provided direct client services related to housing, asset building, fundraising and grant writing.

Shane graduated Summa Cum Laude and with distinction from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science. During his time at OSU, Shane was elected a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society.

He currently serves as a board member of the Columbus Service Alliance and has served on the boards of the Microenterprise Organization of Ohio, the Columbus Marriage Coalition and the Campus Partners for Community Urban Redevelopment.

Under his leadership, ROL has added five new programs, expanded to serve over 18,000 children, extended its program to 10 states, and quadrupled its budget.
