Ned Sackman currently clerks for Judge Thomas M. Golden of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Ned is also developing his legal scholarship. His article, “False Confessions: Rethinking a Contemporary Problem,” will be published in the April issue of the Kansas Journal of Social Policy and the Law. Ned’s clerkship with Judge Golden will end in the fall of 2008, at which time Ned hopes to clerk for a federal appellate judge or enter legal academia.
Prior to clerking for Judge Golden, Ned worked in the litigation department of Pepper Hamilton, LLP in Philadelphia. His practice focused on defending two multinational pharmaceutical companies in products liability suits throughout the country. While living in Philadelphia, Ned became involved in the community, providing legal services pro bono and volunteering with Big Brother and Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Ned and his wife are also members of the Young Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Ned is a member of the Road of Life Leadership Society.
Ned grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio. He attended college at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he received a political science degree. Ned earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was Executive Editor of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law. Ned and his wife Caitlin live in Exton, Pennsylvania.
