This month's Volunteer Spotlight is on Emily Walters, an accountant with Deloitte & Touche LLP, a company in which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services to selected clients. Walters first became involved with Road of Life: Cancer Prevention for Kids and she met founder, Rob Emrich at an event and began discussing the organization its accounting needs. Walters is aware that cancer is a severe issue within the nation and can be prevented through education and healthy lifestyles, so she was immediately interested in ROL. Walters decided to join the ROL team and agreed to meet with Emrich and Executive Director, Shane Hankins. She found that this was a great organization which she wanted to be associated with. Walters collaborates with a group of professionals in ROL's Audit Committee to provide their professional thoughts on accounting for ROL. With Walters being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an external auditor, she brings great insight into accounting best practices for non-profit organizations and will assist ROL with their first audit. The ROL staff is very excited to have Emily Walters on board. She will be a very important asset and her hard work will be much appreciated. |
