Road of Life has been fortunate enough to collaborate with various organizations outside of the school environment, such as after school programs. One such organization is the Ohio Afterschool Association (OAA), formerly known as the Ohio Professional for School Age Children. The OAA is a state wide professional organization for people working on behalf of school-age children. Their mission is to advocate for and educate school-age professionals throughout Ohio in the pursuit of providing high quality care for children and families. OAA is the leading professional organization for those who work with school-age children during out-of-school hours. The OAA is the state affiliate of the National Afterschool Association (NAA) with local affiliates representing every county in Ohio.

Each year, the OAA provides Professional Development Conferences for school-age professionals where they provide high quality, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), and Step up to Quality approved training for afterschool providers in Ohio. The OAA is committed to the growth and development of professionals in the school-age and youth development fields. For this Spring Conference, Tying It All Together, the OAA invited ROL to attend and inform the attendees of the free resources available to them. This was a great way for ROL to inform the after school providers of the new alignment of the After School Program to the National Health Education Standards, as well as to the Core Academic Content Standards. At the conference, many after school providers were very interested in the new format and requested further information on how to obtain the free resources.

As a result of the new outreach towards after school programs, ROL is serving over 18,900 children across the country in the after school setting.
