ROL would like to thank the Governor's Office of Appalachia for their critical funding to serve children in that particular region.
ROL received a cash grant in the amount of $50,000 from the Governor's Office of Appalachia. The Grant will serve 7,275 children in 291 classrooms in Ohio's Appalachian Counties. The grant will support the production of bound versions of ROL Elementary Classroom Curriculum, and these books will be available to classrooms in schools across Appalachia. "This is a great opportunity for ROL to outreach to the Appalachian communities in Ohio. I hope that our program will shed light on the issues of general health, physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco use in order to equip children with the knowledge to make decisions that will improve their health and make them more productive and happier people," explained Terry Wonycott, Director of Marketing and Information Technology. Wonycott is a native from the heart of Appalachia. Growing up in Parkersburg, WV and graduating from Waterford High School, he has a strong passion for working with Appalachia. He is very excited to work with ROL to better serve Appalachia. ROL has leveraged a variety of Funding sources that have directly impacted the organization's work in Ohio and across the country. Due to these funds, ROL has been able to increase internal capacity and to produce new program materials available for FREE to the general public.
